NIGERIA: She is gasping for breath, help! By Yínká Erínfolámí

NIGERIA: She is gasping for breath, help! By Yínká Erínfolámí

I’m terrified by the fact , the old folks running the show in our country can’t be expected or relied upon to make beneficial short, medium or long term plans for it.  They will either see no catch or benefits in making any such plans or be too busy stealing and embezzling money.

On the other hand again, the majority of people born from 1979 upwards, especially the ones between their late 20s to early 40s – a category whose age mates are shaping the future (the driving forces in other climes/nations), were actually born into and bred in very chaotic environments and systems, in our own country.

Hence, they are not equipped to proffer solutions to modern day problems, or make solid plans that can stabilize and, or move our country forward.

As a matter of fact the only things they are programmed or equipped to deal with or think about are how to survive and how to take advantage and oppress the less privileged, at every opportunity, with their greediness, ignorance and arrogance.

Nigeria sadly is sinking very fast, deeper and gasping for breath in a SH*T hole.

If western countries that are better organised than anything we have experienced in our country struggle to get things right, how will a totally disorganized society/country such as ours manage to achieve anything meaningful?

It’s also not helpful that, for every one individual willing to put things right, there are countless others worsening the situation.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any miracle cure in sight, that will solve our problem anytime soon.

It’s said that, ‘heaven helps those who help themselves’, our people continues to do the exact opposite, but expect a bountiful harvest.  And, that’s very frightening, and painfully sad, to watch helplessly!
